A
passionate vocalist,
a skillful
percussionist, an
Electrical Engineer,
and a high
technology marketing
professional.
Subramaniyam
Narayanan also known
as Bombay Sriram
emerged as one of
the most exciting
prospects in the
Indian classical
Music scene
The prodigious
talent of this young
Executive from
Siemens ltd was
noticed early by
Guru Sarayu
Srinivasan when he
had accompanied his
elder sister to her
music class at the
age of 5. From then
on there was no
looking back as he
was groomed in the
basics of carnatic
classical music by
his Guru. This
strong foundation
was groomed under
the able tutelage of
the Giant of
Carnatic classical
music Sangeeta
Vidwan Guru Smt .T.R
Balamani. She
nurtured and molded
this talented
youngster and under
her guidance, Sriram
has performed over
100 concerts in
India and abroad.
Not only is he a
singer but also a
trained
percussionist. He
has undergone
rigorous training in
Mridangam under well
known Mridanga
Vidwan Guru Sri. K.V.
Maniappan for over
15 years.
As a performer,
Subramaniyam
traveled the length
and breadth of India
and to countries
like Switzerland and
Mauritius giving
solo concerts. What
does music mean to
him? Says Sriram
“From Indian village
folk to urban youth,
from suave Swiss
audiences to
Creole-speaking
Mauritians, music
has helped me touch
the hearts of people
and evoke feelings
and emotions
inexpressible by any
civilized tongue.
Hours of diligent
practice at night
help me de-stress
myself after a long
day at work. Music
has brought me close
to people with
varied experiences
and from diverse
cultures and has
helped me to
constantly explore
my inner self,
thereby enriching
and broadening my
perspective”
He is a proud
recipient of the
prestigious National

have come under the
tutelage of such
great teachers who
have taught me not
only the meaning of
the seven notes but
the meaning of life
itself!”
Talking about his
future plans Sriram
says “In the long
term, I want to
establish a
media/entertainment
enterprise in India
for scouting and
promoting new
talent, managing
existing talent,
providing global
exposure, and
remunerating
artistes of
different grade
levels. My long term
goals also include
marketing Indian
music to new and
younger audiences
across the globe,
educating and
fostering young
talent, upgrading
performance
facilities in India,
