| Music is a universal language that has the capacity to touch each of us through melody, rhythm and mood, irrespective of the language in which the words / lyrics are expressed. It transcends all barriers and can unite man with man, and in its purest form, man with God. According to our great masters, the best form of music is the music that sings the praises of the Lord. Many great poet-saints through centuries chose the medium of sculpted music painted in words to express their love towards their chosen deities and entered the realm of Life Divine. Bhajans and kirtans expressing divine glories have the capacity to make us pause and experience a few moments of serenity and peace. In fact, in Swami Chinmayananda’s words, “Music is an ornamentation of Silence.” it should be used by sadhaks to experience the silence within, in our quest towards “Oneness” with our Divine Self. |
